(Nasdaq: MYGN) has named Mark Anderson, Ph.D., as Vice President, Chemistry
and Robert Carlson, Ph.D., as Vice President, Discovery Biology for Myriad
Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Dr. Anderson oversees all aspects of chemistry at Myriad Pharmaceuticals,
including medicinal, analytical and hit-to-lead chemistries, as well as
compound characterization and analysis. He joined Myriad from Elitra
Pharmaceuticals where he was Director of Medicinal Chemistry, and oversaw
microbiology and ADMET efforts, focused on the development of drug candidates
for drug-resistant bacterial and fungal infections. Previously, Dr. Anderson
was with Pfizer's La Jolla Laboratories as Associate Director of Medicinal
Chemistry. At Pfizer, he was designing small molecules for potential use in
hormone-dependent cancers, kinase targets and new antivirals.
Dr. Carlson oversees all biological components of drug discovery,
including in vivo and in vitro pharmacology, high-throughput screening and
target validation, in his new role with Myriad Pharmaceuticals. He joined
Myriad from Karo Bio USA, a pharmaceutical company specializing in hormone
receptor discovery, where he was Director of Research, supervising a broad-
based team of discovery scientists. Previously, Dr. Carlson was with Bayer
Corporation as a Senior Research Scientist in Cancer discovery, responsible
for all aspects from high-throughput screening through in-vivo proof of
principle.

Dr. Anderson received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of
Minnesota. He earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University in Chemistry and
completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, focusing on the
synthesis of novel bioisosteres of Palytoxin. Dr. Anderson is the inventor of
numerous patented technologies, the author of dozens of scientific articles
and a frequent invited lecturer.
Dr. Carlson received his B.S. degree in Natural Sciences from the
University of Wisconsin, and earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Brandeis
University. He completed post-doctoral fellowships in the Department of
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Georgetown University and with the
Mental Health Research Institute at The University of Michigan Medical School.
Dr. Carlson has numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles to his credit, in
addition to book chapters on biochemical topics and has been an invited expert
lecturer on various aspects of drug discovery.
